In my opinion, taking a gap year between high school and college can be very beneficial to one’s personal development. There are some main reasons below. First and foremost, they can do a lot of things they haven’t done before. Students can pick up the pieces they missed in high school such as taking a part-time job, traveling in other countries, becoming a volunteer, which can help them live life to the fullest. Nowadays, many Vietnamese students do not know what they want, what type of job they are suitable for. So, taking a gap year, students will have time to think particularly about their lives, goals, ambitions, and so on. Therefore, they can easier choose which university to go. Moreover, they’ll know what’s important in life before most people do. They understand there are bigger issues for humanity than a failed date night. They also have first-hand opinions to share about people, places and ideas that their friends might have never even heard of. In short, taking a gap year is a good choice for many students.
