Part 2: Read the passage and choose the correct answer (A, B, C, or D) to each of the questions.
Jobs of the future: What will our children be doing in 2040?
Many jobs today didn't exist 10 or 20 years ago. In the future, work will change even more because of new technology. Professor Carl Frey, an expert from Oxford University, says students should gain important skills now to be ready for new jobs by 2040 .
Here are some future jobs:
- Renewable Energy Scientist: These scientists will help make clean energy like wind and solar power. Students should study science and maths to prepare.
- Virtual Reality Developer: People may work in the metaverse, a digital world. Developers will write computer code to build these worlds. Students should learn ICT, maths, and science.
- Virtual Reality Artist: These artists use technology to create digital art that appears in real places. Subjects like art, ICT, and design are helpful.
- Yoga Instructor: Some jobs will still focus on real human contact. Yoga is one of them.
- Health Chef: In the future, chefs may cook food to improve health. Food technology and science are valuable for this job.
Even with all these changes, Professor Frey says students should still learn subjects which they have traditionally been focusing on as they are still very important and useful for future careers.
